I felt a deep impact by this song this week as I was going through some personal things and doing some healing work with Jesus, and I was reminded of how just close my life could have ended. When you are told that there was a a 70 percent chance you would not survive your heart surgery for a removal of a device that was placed to prevent further problems from happening, but instead, gave you several more neurological conditions due to the medical community not performing a simple test, I felt taken back to a time where just how serious things got, and how sick I was. This is part of why The Love Well Letters was written.
“Bono and Noel Gallagher of Oasis talked about how Bono's father wasn't really a religious person and Noel told Bono that he was "One step closer to knowing" when he died. Bono decided to write this song about his late father because of the conversation.”
There are so many emotions captured in this song, but I feel where I more want to focus for this blog is to not let the thief steal our joy, and to focus on what Jesus states in the following scripture from John 10:10 “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly (KJV).”
I think in these times, it is important to reflect on what is bringing life to us, and to remember to live each day is if it were our last. We don’t know when we will return home, so we do the best we can do each day to love, serve, take care of ourselves on every level, and be accountable for ourselves, and for each other.
I remember a moment when things got serious after the removal of my heart device, and having a similar feeling this week, and I was gently reminded that we losing out on precious moments of time will be what matters in the end. I see more and more people that I once respected and love losing perspective on life, and that has been hard for me. People I once considered mentors in my life, not taking the time to really listen or consider other perspectives at hand, or judging situations because they don’t know what is happening at that given moment. Some of it were stressful situations that all were involved in and just miscommunications.
I have seen this pressure like mentality emerge everywhere lately and I am not liking it. Those of you who read my work, know me professionally and work with me, know that there is a difference between a spirit of excellence and perfectionism and walking in the spirit vs. the ego based culture we live in.
This week, on several occasions, I have been reminded that sometimes others are not ready for truth for a variety of reasons. That is why I am always wanting to course correct and take accountability for my faults and actions, and get any help I can to improve. With two situations, I was given the Bible verse to help keep my mouth shut on: Matthew 7:6 “Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces (NKJV).” Sometimes, we have to rest, reset, and let Jesus fight our battles for us. We need to do our part, and let Jesus do the rest.
I think being close to death gives you a different perspective on life. You find out what is important and what is not. In a certain sense, you become more intense about a lot of things and other things become so nonsensical to you about life that it’s hard for people to grasp about you and the way you approach life. That’s fine. When people are taken to that side and meet Jesus, I feel they will have that same experience. That was my experience and several others that I have had conversations with that have been to the brink and back.
All we can do is be the light. Enjoy the song and really focus your meditation for this week on if this was your last night on earth, how would you spend it or what miracle would you ask Jesus for in order to be completely healed and to start living your life differently so you do things on a higher level for him. This is how much this song brings perspective to a person’s life. It shows the end of one’s life and let’s not let our mission for the Kingdom of Heaven burn out prematurely.
